Brazil time zones by state: complete guide

May 2026

Brazil is a continental-sized country with four official time zones. This means that while it's 12pm in São Paulo, it might be 10am in Acre or 11am in Manaus. Understanding this difference is essential for anyone scheduling meetings across different regions of Brazil — or with Brazilians from different states living abroad.

Brazil's four time zones

1. UTC-2 — Fernando de Noronha Time (FNT)

States: the Fernando de Noronha archipelago (PE) only

Difference from Brasília: 1 hour ahead

Example: when it's 12pm in Brasília, it's 1pm in Fernando de Noronha

2. UTC-3 — Brasília Time (BRT) — the main timezone

States: Amapá, Pará (except western part), Maranhão, Piauí, Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Pernambuco (except Fernando de Noronha), Alagoas, Sergipe, Bahia, Goiás, Tocantins, Federal District, Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, and Mato Grosso do Sul

This is the reference timezone for most of the country.

3. UTC-4 — Amazon Time (AMT)

States: Amazonas (except far western municipalities), Rondônia, Roraima, Mato Grosso, and western Pará

Difference from Brasília: 1 hour behind

Example: when it's 12pm in Brasília, it's 11am in Manaus

4. UTC-5 — Acre Time (ACT)

States: Acre and far western Amazonas municipalities (Atalaia do Norte, Benjamin Constant, Tabatinga, and surrounding areas)

Difference from Brasília: 2 hours behind

Example: when it's 12pm in Brasília, it's 10am in Rio Branco

Does Brazil still observe daylight saving time?

No. Brazilian daylight saving time was abolished in 2019 by presidential decree. Prior to that, states in the South, Southeast, and Central-West regions moved clocks forward by 1 hour during the austral summer (October to February). Since 2019, all Brazilian timezones are fixed year-round.

How to check the current time in any Brazilian city?

Use QueHoras to see live times for cities like Manaus, Rio Branco, Porto Velho, Belém, Fortaleza, Salvador, Curitiba, and all Brazilian state capitals. Clocks update every second.
